Highly Recommended

I purchased this Dynamic Duo (approx 2 years ago) as an upgrade from the Breville Barista that I used for over a decade. The two boilers allows me to make pretty much unlimited cappuccinos for family and friends, without having to wait for the steam wand to recharge. My family averages about 10 drinks per day between us all and the machine never lets us down. I think the machine paid for itself the first year. The grinder is great and allows you to dial in your beans pretty easily after you get the hang of it. I also purchased it from Seattle Coffee and everything came on time and as expected. In fact I just recommended this set up to a co-worker who was looking to upgrade from pods.

Very nice machine.

My second espresso machine(upgraded from a low budget de longhi). I am very pleased with this BDB. With auto some automatic features and enough manual controls to help me achieve a balance between productive workflow and hands on espresso extraction. I dont use the grinder, i invested in a GBW Eureka Grinder.

Great buy

Works like a champ. Dialed it in with the first bag of coffee and we are pulling 3-5 shots a day with no issues. Steam wand works great and the unit cleans up easily.

The Dream Team

This combo seriously makes the best coffee ever! I've worked in airport bars with machines that cost 7x as much as this, and I get better results at home now with The Dynamic Duo. The grinder is great with many adjustable options. Once you get dialed in with your grind and puck prep, you will get professional results at home.

An espresso dream

Have had the Breville Duo for about a month, use it pretty much exclusively for a single expresso every morning, but it is nice to have the dual boiler for making additional coffee drinks for guests who prefer lattes and cappuccinos. It took a little work to get the grinder dialed in for my whole bean of choice, but the control over grind size and grind time help immensely to get it right for use with the single non pressurized portafilter basket. A great addition for my coffee addiction

Just lovin my new Breville Dual Bouler

I'm just lovin my new Breville Dual Boiler Espresso Machine. I have watched many videos and have been practicing perfecting my shots. I also purchased the naked portafilter so I can really see what's going on. Thank You Seattle Coffee Gear for all your great videos and great customer service!

First espresso machine

After moving from Seattle to Tacoma, I missed my regular espresso shops so wanted to start buying their beans to brew on my own. After reading through multiple blogs and reviews, I settled on the dual boiler and could not be happier thus far. As my first espresso machine I find it easy to use and so far all my taste testers have approved! love the wheel feature for the ease of moving it.

Breville Dual Boiler

I am very pleased with Breville double boiler. Ability to select pre infusion duration and the brew temperature features are great. The tamper that comes with the machine is a bit undersized. The grinder that comes with the espresso machine is passable but not the best. The ground coffee is lumpy and makes a mess when you grind into the portafilter. For what I wanted, this Breville model is a better offering than the more expensive model.

Best machine for the money - years of experience.

I have had this machine for over 6 years now and it still works just as well as the first day I got it. I have had to replace some seals on the boilers and the steam wand. But thats more of less from years of wear. I use it atleast once a day if not several times. My grinder still works perfectly as well.I 100% think this is the best machine for the money and great for anyone that knows nothing about making really good espresso.I've purchased may really fun additional tools to upgrade the espresso making experience over the years and I highly recommend seattle coffee gear in general. Great helpful staff. Very knowledgeable and helpful!

Bad luck or bad machine

I regret making this review, but I feel it's necessary and needs attention. So, my wife and I came from a Breville Barista Express that we got back in 2020. It was our first step into making home espresso and after a bit of trial and error, we learned the machine and loved it. We used it just about every single day and it never skipped a beat. After 4 years with the machine, I wanted to surprise my wife with an upgraded coffee setup. I did a fair bit of research and decided on the Dynamic Duo setup. However, our excitement for the upgrade was short lived. After a month with this setup, we've ran into a few hiccups. We both like light/medium roasted beans from a local roastery. The problem with this is the beans are slightly harder than dark roast beans. The grinder cannot grind the bean we use at the required level without jamming. We have to slowly introduce the beans a little at a time to prevent jamming. Once we've finally get the beans to grind, we distribute the coffee with a needle distribution tool and tamp the coffee with a preset pressure tamp. The level of inconsistency we get from brewing with this machine is massively frustrating. We've adjusted grind size, grind volume, tamp pressure, and water temperature and can't get a consistent pressure or shot volume when repeating methods. I know it takes a little bit to dial in a setup, but this goes beyond that. It might be perfectly fine with dark roasts, but it doesn't seem to be able to handle lighter roasted beans. Others on here seem to have positive experiences and it probably performs well for 99 out of 100 people, but we seem to be that 1 out of 100. At this point, I'm looking into initiating a return and going back to our old setup since it seemed to work just fine. It's a nice machine and the convenience of dual boilers is great, but not when I can't even extract the coffee we want.

Nice features, easy to use, but not well built (4 year machine)

Only got this because it is easier to use than better machines. I like the automatic features - auto on, auto shot timer (single and double) and auto off and standby are excellent. But compared to more beefier machines, this does not have much nearly as much pressure in the steamer or even in pulling shots. This is my 3rd Breville 920xl. The first one died after 4 years and when I tried to have it repaired (500$ since it was out of warrantee) they just replaced with a new one. But then that one also died in 4 years. The descaling system never works properly. After I descaled the first time, it would not turn back on at all. Had to mess with it for a few days to get it to work. Then it said it still needed descaling. Tried again, but it never cleared the "descale" on the screen. Same for the second machine. But on the second one, the pump died suddenly. I might have it repaired (would be nice to have a backup). My kids like this machine and the Bezzera I have seems much harder to use (no auto shot timer, for example), and it's almost 2x the price. But it would not be hard for Breville to make this machine more sturdy and have it last 10 years instead of going to landfill after just 4 years.

After 2 years: still pleased with purchase

I have owned this for 2 years now and love it. My wife was originally very upset with me for wanting to spend so much money to upgrade from our Nespresso pod machine, but quickly got over that and now loves the machine and the drinks we can make with it. After 2 years, I am now considering taking some people's advice and buying a higher end grinder to see if it really makes a difference for milk based drinks. However, the SGP grinder still works great. My youngest daughter is about to go off to college and is wanting to take this machine with her-so we are also looking to possibly 'upgrade' only for that reason. Again: we are content with the unit and really don't see any 'need' to move on from it (other than letting my daughter have this one while away at school).

Espresso my appreciation for the Dynamic Duo!!!

The Breville Double Boiler is easy to use and is fantastic! For the grinder, I adjusted the burr ring to "4" and the grinder to 12 and then feed 18 gm of light roast beans through the grinder gradually over about 20 sec and I get my coffee out fine with no retention. Brews up great espresso!!! I had wanted an Option-O p64 grinder which is not available, but this is working great for me so far! Now I have to work on my latte' art! Ha! Ha! Ha! That needs practice!

Great product!

We've loved the dynamic duo and have had good success with the learning curve since we have never had a machine like this before. We like having the grinder separate from the espresso machine and the double boiler to brew and steam at the same time. highly recomend!

Great coffee hardware!

Love the combo of the smart grinder with the duo. Takes some time to dial in the grind for perfect espresso but the results are excellent. Nice to be able to pull a shot while steaming milk at the same time!
